Frances Roy Sedore

1952 – 2019

Sometimes life isn’t fair.

Here’s a kid from Brooklyn who grew up to be a man, in every sense of the word. And he did that without the guidance of a father. He had the foresight to understand that an education was a keystone – even better, a law degree. All on his own, too, while serving his country in the National Guard. The man knew what was important to provide for his bride Evelyn and eventually his two beautiful daughters Annemarie and Nicole.

His demeaner was gentle and modest, always a pleasure to be around. He loved Yankees baseball and Giants football, and his intelligence would always challenge the best of us to a good game of Trivial Pursuit. For those who were blessed to have known him well, a more loyal and caring friend could not have been found.

Even so, his life was fulfilled by his grandchildren: Jack, Andrew, Brayden, Ava and Matthew. He lived for them, and they were the engine that kept him going even after life dealt him one bad hand after another. How can we explain God’s plan? Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Myeloma were huge challenges but were not going to defeat the man. It took a third, unbeatable disease (the scourge of our society) to finally complete God’s plan.

He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart, his wife and companion of 45 years, the mother of his children and a devoted caretaker. His daughters will miss the love and guidance of their father, a luxury he never had. Also surviving are his sons-in-law Jason and David, both of whom were so special to him. And his five grandchildren will be diminished by the gentle wisdom he will no longer be able to share with them, except through his legacy. Finally, he leaves behind his mother Antoinette and sister Judy who have always been there to share the good times and the bad.

And everyone else who knew him will be less. Yes, sometimes life isn’t fair. This is one of those times.

Judy I was sorry to hear of your brother's passing and wanted you to know that Roy and the entire family are in our prayers. I didn't know Roy but clearly he was an amazing individual but knowing his sister, that doesn't surprise me. You have our hopes that during this time of grief that you are reminded of all the great moments of his life and celebrate his return to heaven! Joe White

I was one of Roy's partners at Baker McKenzie for a number of years. He was an excellent colleague and I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

May God welcome Roy into eternity and provide his blessing to his grieving family.

A true and kind gentleman , who lived for his family. Despite recent physical hardships, Mr. Sedore was never without a smile or kind words. He was a wonderful example of how a life should be lived--with strength, class and passion. I will miss you, Roy!
Deepest condolences to the Sedore family.

Roy was my best friend, the brother I never had, a mentor, and lastly the person I most admired and respected in my life. He was a role model as a husband, father and grandfather. Someone once told me God only picks the pretty flowers, well yesterday he got the best the garden has to offer. I will miss you deeply my friend, you will be in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Roy was the definition of class. I've known him virtually all my life as he was such good friends with my mom and dad. My mother adored him and his whole family. He was always so nice and good to my brothers and I. He will be missed however his memory and effect on my family will always be positive. I hope Ginger meets up with you Roy, which knowing her she most definitely will, makes you a big Italian dinner and makes your entry into Heaven a truly welcomed one. We will miss you.
